SkyView

The sky is blue...
Until it isn't.

Useful knowledge comes first, complete knowledge comes later.
This site is built around that idea.

The SkyView philosophy

As children, we're taught that the sky is blue; but that's not really true.
Are our parents and teachers liars?

NO!
Understanding why the sky appears blue requires learning about:
wavelengths, rayleigh scattering, molecules, and more.
None of that matters for a five year old. Heck, for most of us it barely matters even now.
When you're five, "the sky is blue" is exactly the right answer.

WHY?
Because it's simple, it's useful and it's a placeholder for future knowledge.

The SkyView Goal

On this site, you'll find guides, projects, and experiments that focus on providing
basic knowledge and placeholders.

The content is meant to be useful, but not comprehensive.
Useful does not always mean complete.
Simple does not always mean inaccurate.

Sometimes "the sky is blue" is enough.
The content on this site often favors practical understanding over exhaustive detail.
Many explanations are intentionally simplified or forced into analogical forms so
that you can get moving before you know everything.

As we learn more, our understanding becomes more detailed and more accurate.
We replace simple explanations with better ones.
Not because the original explanation was useless,
but because we've reached the point where we need something deeper.

Reach deeper when you're ready!
You don't need to know everything to take the first step.
